The Old Butter Factory - Possible Future House names - Swallows' Rest and Eagles' Eyrie

The Bemboka Butter Factory, in its masonry building, opened in March 1927 and operated as a Butter Factory until 1980.
It was then bought and repurposed as a Paper MIll until the mid- 1990s. It has sat waiting for its new life since then, home to many swallows.
HERITAGE PROJECT. The Old Butter Factory is locally heritage listed, so the exterior will be kept either as is, or in combination with one of it's past incarnations. We want to make it into 2 apartments - upper area and lower area. A huge project to undertake, but each project begins with small steps and the new awning has been done to replace the dangerously damaged one that was there, with the help of a Heritage Grant.
Next we need to enclose all the gaps the swallows enter, before cleaning can commence.

We no longer offer holiday accommodation, due to cleaning costs to prevent Covid-19,
and all commercial bookings have ceased and no longer listed on AirBnb

Please advise if you are Emergency Services or CWA members
as respite/emergency accommodation in Lorikeet may be available
Cottages are used for emergencies, Workaway visits and family respite.
It is hoped that Rosella will find some great long-term residents

Rosella Cottage

Rosella is currently empty, but this was it when fully furnished

NEW TENANT CURRENTLY UNDER CONSIDERATION.
Currently unfurnished.   Photos from its former incarnation as an AirBnb
3 bedrooms 2 double, 1 single.
Eat-in kitchen
Loungeroom with open fireplace
Great verandah with a view down to the Bemboka River.
The shower is currently over the bath.
There are currently grab rails for the toilet and shower area.
Rosella Cottage has been repainted inside, furnished and has new curtains, since the Black Summer Fires.
Future work for Rosella Cottage includes a freshen up of the exterior paintwork, in reds, and maybe a splash of blue, to reflect the wonderful Crimson Rosellas in the area.
The garden is a work in progress and will eventually include a suitable ramp from parking to kitchen door.
The yard fiinishes at the top of the bank and the bank includes planting a series of native bushes to attract native birds, provide flowers and also to screen at a low level from other cottages without obscuring the greater view; and more planting between Lorikeet and Rosella Cottages for added privacy.

Lorikeet Cottage

Used as our family retreat, guest cottage and for Workaway WHV Backpackers.  Lorikeet Cottage has recently been repaired and furnished after long-term tenants. The addition of an extra walk-in shower is suitable for people with mobility issues or needing a bath chair.
Great verandah to watch birds and wildlife from and listen to the river.
Future work for Lorikeet Cottage includes a freshen up of the exterior paintwork, in greens, and maybe a splash of ochre or yellow, to reflect the wonderful Lorikeets and King Parrots in the area.
The bank garden, part of the main property, is a work in progress, including planting a series of native bushes to attract native birds, provide flowers and also to screen at a low level from other cottages without obscuring the greater view; and more planting between Lorikeet and Rosella Cottages for added privacy. The fruit trees are on the main property as well.
A new vine is hoping to add additional privacy from the highway.

The Dairy Co-op (future name, maybe The Owlery)

FUTURE PROJECT - unlikely to be renovated without a Lotto win. The weatherboard sections have sturdy bones and its materials will be used in the renovations of the other properties
The fibro cottage will remain as a workshop and a concrete bunker underneath will be weatherproofed for storage.
The rest will be removed and replaced with a garage and carport in keeping with the style of the property.
